The highlights of our journey from 2012 to the heavenly sweet you know now
KIM YOON HEE was in Jakarta recently for a unique launching of new Elle & Vire® Butter 60% Fat in Indonesia and also for a piping art workshop session.
Kim is known as one of the best flower buttercream artists in Korea. She is famous for making unique color blend and piping very real flowers with thin and beautiful petals.
"However, I didn't start with making flowers. I studied design in college, I was always interested in beautiful designs, but I was more attracted with their colors. That's where I started: the colorful design," she said.
She then learned the art of making flower design from an elderly mentor. It took her five years to be able to produce delicate and life-like flower piping creations.
"I'm still learning. I'm still practicing hard. This craft takes a lot of work. My favorite shape is that of rose, but I want to be able to make as much flower types as possible," said Kim who recently published her book "Korean Decorating Art Book: Buttercream Flower Cake Decorating".
As a kid, Kim loved tteokbokki, a popular Korean food made from soft rice cake, fish cake, and the sweet red chili sauce, and carrot cake.
"I always love sweet food, food with a lot sugar in it. Probably that's what driven me to pastry," she said smiling.
To her, Elle & Vire® Butter 60% Fat is the best product to work with in creating buttercream art.
"You can make the best forms and shapes with this. It's easy to work with; with other butter you will need to control it more," said the artist who is also an Authorizing 0fficer of China-Korea Cake Association and Steering Committee of Korean Cake Association.
In the future, Kim wants to be able to grow her company Kim and Cake and be able to share her skill with more and more people.
